Milwaukee – County Supervisor Supreme Moore Omokunde plans to resign his seat representing the 10th District on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors on the morning of Friday, December 18. Supervisor Moore Omokunde was elected to the Wisconsin State Assembly on Tuesday, November 3.
“It has been the opportunity of a lifetime to represent the 10th Supervisory District on the County Board,” said Supervisor Moore Omokunde. “I am incredibly proud of everything my colleagues and I have accomplished during my tenure. While there is much more progress to be made, I believe that our work has made Milwaukee County a better and more equitable place. I am especially proud of Milwaukee County’s declaration of racism as a public health crisis and the numerous resolutions and ordinance changes that have come from that declaration. By using a racial equity lens in our decision-making, we will mitigate the centuries-long disparities that people of color live with in Milwaukee County.”
Supervisor Moore Omokunde was first elected to the County Board in April 2015. He currently serves as Chairman of the Health and Human Needs Committee, Co-Chairman of the City-County Task Force on Climate and Economic Equity and is a member of the Finance Committee and Audit Committee.
“Thank you to all my colleagues that I have served alongside over the last five years,” said Supervisor Moore Omokunde. “Board Chairs Marina Dimitrijevic, Theo Lipscomb, Sr. and Marcelia Nicholson each deserve a special thank you for doing an excellent job leading the board through difficult circumstances. I would also like to thank all of Milwaukee County’s professional staff who work diligently to support the board’s operations. Finally, thank you to every single constituent and community group who has ever called my office, sent an email, sent a letter, or come to a meeting or district event. Without your input we could not effectively do our jobs as elected officials.”
Moore Omokunde will be sworn in as the Representative to the State Assembly for the 17th District on January 5, 2021.
