Marinette, WI – Today, Marinette small business owner and Republican Mike Kunesh announced that he is running in the Special Election for Wisconsin’s 89th Assembly District.  The seat was recently vacated by John Nygren who announced that he was leaving the Assembly earlier this month.

Mike Kunesh My sincere thanks and appreciation to Representative Nygren for his work on behalf of the 89th District.  He has served our community very well since 2007, and I wish him well as he embarks on a new and exciting chapter in life.

The decision to run for the State Assembly was not one that my family and I took lightly, but after careful reflection, we concluded together that now is the right time to serve our communities.

Given my business experience and involvement in the community, I believe I can leverage my skills in a way that will be beneficial to residents of Northeastern Wisconsin.

As your representative, I’ll work with anyone willing to safely rebuild our economy to create jobs, address discrepancies in our tax structure, and support our police and first responders.  We must also hold state agencies – like the Wisconsin Elections Commission – accountable for their actions, and reform any operations which fail to advance honest government. I will work diligently on local concerns including clean water, broadband expansion, mental health and workforce/affordable housing.

Mike and his wife, Amy, have four children and a labradoodle.  He has been a licensed real estate agent since 1991, and has owned Place Perfect Realty in Marinette and Green Bay since 1999.  He is highly active in the community, having served on the boards of the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation, the National Association of Realtors board, the Wisconsin Association of Realtors, Bay-Lake Regional Planning Commission, the Tri-County Area United Way, inVenture North, the Town of Peshtigo Plan Commission and the Marinette Menominee Chamber of Commerce.
