Oshkosh, Wisconsin – The Greater Oshkosh Economic Development Corporation is pleased to announce that the Winnebago Catch-A-Ride program provided over 1,900 trips for employment in 2020. Even during the Safer at Home order, this program continued to get essential workers to their place of work.
Winnebago Catch-A-Ride helps individuals transition out of poverty while helping local businesses find and keep employees. Volunteers give rides to workers who do not have their own transportation or face difficulty accessing public transit due to schedule restrictions or location challenges.
More volunteers are needed! The unemployment rate is going down, and local companies are hiring, which means there is an increased demand for rides. This opportunity is perfect for helpers who want to witness an immediate improvement in others’ lives through the time they give. Volunteers have autonomy using their own vehicles and are supported with a mileage reimbursement to cover costs. Winnebago Catch-A-Ride drivers are a part of a team, a force for good that ushers people toward their best life. Driver schedules are flexible, with trips planned through a smartphone app, making it easy and convenient to respond to passenger requests.
