Governor Tony Evers Endorses Melissa Sargent for State Senate

MADISON– Melissa Sargent (D-Madison) released the following statement announcing an endorsement from Governor Tony Evers, for her candidacy for Wisconsin’s 16th Senate District:

“Today I am beyond humbled and proud to announce an endorsement from Governor Tony Evers,” said Sargent. “As a longtime educator, former DPI Superintendent, and now as the 46th Governor of Wisconsin, Governor Evers has always worked on behalf of Wisconsinites. His leadership has brought our state to historic funding levels for public education, returned science to the DNR, supported farmers in our state, and much more.”

“Melissa is a tenacious leader for her constituents and community, and her work ethic, passion, and experience within the State Legislature make her the right choice to represent the 16th Senate District,” said Evers. “From gun safety legislation closing the background check loophole and implementing Extreme Risk Protection Orders to protecting survivors of sexual assault and harassment to making sure our economy works for everyone, Melissa has been a great partner in serving the people of our state. She earns my full support.”

“It is truly an honor to have earned the support of Governor Evers and his leadership,” said Sargent. “Governor Evers continues to face difficult challenges as he leads our state through the COVID-19 pandemic, and beyond. I am confident that Governor Evers will continue to overcome these adversities and work for Wisconsin. I look forward to continuing to work together, and am proud to have his support,” stated Sargent.
