Former U.S. Rep. Sean Duffy praised President Trump as the “law and order president” this evening while slamming Gov. Tony Evers for not immediately sending National Guard troops to Kenosha Sunday night.
The Wausau Republican in a pre-convention virtual event said “we should all be outraged” from the events over unrest in the city since a Sunday incident where police shot Jacob Blake in the back multiple times.
”The governor should’ve sent in the National Guard right away, but he didn’t,” he said. “I don’t care if you’re a Democrat or a Republican, we should all be outraged that someone’s life work in a business could be burned to the ground.”
Duffy claimed Evers and Dems don’t “want to call out the riots because (the rioters are) Biden voters.”
He also dismissed criticism that this week’s Republican National Convention has painted a dark portrait of America and America’s future if Trump doesn’t win reelection. He instead called it “the most hopeful, inspirational convention.”
But Duffy then said there was a “dark part” of the convention, which, he said, was what Dems’ vision is for the U.S. if Biden wins in November.
He added he felt Dems want “government control” and have segmented the people “into categories.”
“This country has never been great when we segment into different voting blocks,” Duffy said.
Duffy resigned from Congress last fall, saying he wanted to spend more time with his family.
