Dems were poised to pick up two seats in the Assembly, both in suburban Milwaukee, according to unofficial returns.

In the 13th AD, Dem Sara Rodriguez was at 51 percent, while Rep. Rob Hutton, R-Brookfield, was at 49 percent, according to unofficial returns.

In the 23rd AD, Dem Deb Andraca was at 51.6 percent compared to Rep. Jim Ott’s 48.4 percent.

All precincts were reporting in both districts. Andraca declared victory shortly before midnight, while Rodriguez declared early this morning.

Meanwhile, Rep. Nick Milroy, D-South Range, was clinging to a narrow lead with all precincts reporting. He was at 50.2 percent to 49.8 percent for Republican Keith Kern, a difference of 139 votes.

If Milroy’s edge holds up, it would put Dems at 38 seats after Republicans started the session 63-36.

Republicans began the session planning to target four Dem incumbents in their push to net the three seats needed for a two-thirds majority. Beyond Milroy, the results in those races were:

*Rep. Robyn Vining, D-Wauwatosa, was at 54 percent of the vote to 46 percent for Republican Bonnie Lee with all precincts reporting.

*Rep. Beth Meyers, D-Bayfield, was at 51.4 percent while Republican James Bolen was at
48.6 percent with all precincts reporting. A WisPolitics.com analysis showed Meyers outspent Bolen 16.5-to-1 on the way to a 1,000-vote victory.

*Rep. Steve Doyle, D-Onalaska, was at 52.4 percent over Republican Kevin Hoyer with all precincts reporting.

Meanwhile, Republicans were able to fend off challenges in several races:

*Total spending hit $1.7 million by last week in the 24th AD, where Rep. Dan Knodl, R-Germantown, was at 51.5 percent over Dem Emily Siegrist with all precincts reporting.

*Rep. Shannon Zimmerman, R-River Falls, was at 55.9 percent over Dem Sarah Yacoub in the 30th AD, with all precincts reporting.

*Rep. Ken Skowronski, R-Franklin, was at 50.3 percent of the vote over Dem Jacob Malinowski in the 82nd AD.

*Rep. Jessie Rodriguez, R-Oak Creek, was at 54.7 percent over Dem Erik Brooks in the 21st AD with all precincts reporting.

*Rep. John Macco, R-Ledgeview, was at 52.3 percent, compared to Dem Kristin Lyerly’s 47.7 percent in the 88th AD.

*Rep. David Steffen, R-Green Bay, was at 53 percent, compared to Dem Kathy Hinkfuss’ 47 percent in the 4th AD.
