(Brown County, Wis.) – Brown County Executive Troy Streckenbach on Thursday introduced his 2021 budget proposal, which provides another major property tax rate cut which will reduce the rate to its lowest level in four decades.
“I’m excited to introduce my 2021 budget proposal that includes historic financial achievements not seen in many years,” says Streckenbach. “Despite Brown County’s struggles with the COVID-19 pandemic, this budget plan features lower property tax rates, reduction of outstanding debt, and continued investment in our infrastructure, which has been a longstanding priority of my administration.”
The 2021 mill rate will decrease by 20 cents, from $4.18 to $3.98. On a home valued at $200,000, this year’s equalized tax rate will fall over $40 to $795.84. By the end of 2021, Brown County will have paid off over $64 million in debt while saving taxpayers millions of dollars in interest payments since 2017.
