WAUKESHA, Wisconsin (Oct. 22, 2020) – Carroll University has named alumna Laura Fisher-Bonvallet to its 25-member Board of Trustees.

Fisher-Bonvallet, a 1974 graduate, earned a B.A. in music and taught instrumental music in the Green Bay area for 18 years, while also earning numerous postgraduate credits in music education. She was a member of the Green Bay Symphony Orchestra and a founding member of the Civic Symphony of Green Bay, serving on its board of directors and as a member of the horn section. She also assisted the Green Bay Symphony Youth Orchestra as its brass specialist instructor.

Retiring from teaching in 1992, Fisher-Bonvallet established the highly successful Beauxchênes Fibre Arts. Her focus included envisioning her product, designing weave structures, weaving the fabric, designing the silhouettes, hand-dying the silk and producing the garments. When her business grew rapidly, she found qualified independent contractors to assist her.

Fisher-Bonvallet oversaw all aspects of her business including production, inventory, quality control, purchasing, marketing, HR, accounting and sales, while remaining the sole designer. She earned national recognition with her award-winning handwoven, hand-dyed silk artwear that was marketed in specialty boutiques and high-end art venues from coast to coast. She received two coveted Niche Awards and was featured in “Ornament” and “Niche” magazines.

Retiring from the show circuit in 2017, Fisher-Bonvallet continues to create textile art and performs professionally with Green Bay City Band. An active volunteer, she is a member of the American Association of University Women, president of the Green Bay Art Colony, and serves on the boards of the Brown County Civic Music Association and Green Bay City Band.
