A north-central Wisconsin businessman compared President Trump to the Wisconsin Badgers football team this evening, telling the Republican National Convention they’re both smart, tough and dependable.
John Peterson, owner of metal fabrication business Schuette Metals, said those qualities are exactly what’s needed in a president and praised Trump for his decision to scrap NAFTA and negotiate a new trade deal with Canada and Mexico.
He also slammed former President Obama and Vice President Joe Biden, calling them two “career politicians who know nothing about business” whose government regulations put his family business into a tailspin. He added their banking regulations tied their lender’s hands, depriving them of needed capital.
Peterson, who was appointed to the Wisconsin Economic Development Corp. Board by Assembly Speaker Robin Vos, R-Rochester, said he shudders when he hears Biden is ready to raise taxes and “crush us with regulations.”
“This is not the time to hand our government over to a washed-up career politician who will be nothing but a puppet of the radical Left Democrats,” he said.
