(WISCONSIN) — In response to Eric Trump’s upcoming visit to Wisconsin, Democratic Party of Wisconsin Chair Ben Wikler released the following statement: “Trump and his campaign continue to exacerbate the COVID-19 crisis by holding events that don’t mandate masks or social distancing, even as Wisconsin is facing a surge in cases and hospitals are nearing maximum capacity. This is what we’ve come to expect from Trump and his campaign: ignore the reality of the virus, blame others, and skirt any responsibility to bring us back from this pandemic. We’ve already lost over 200,000 Americans to COVID-19 and millions have lost their

DBA: Endorses COVID-19 lawsuit protection legislation

MADISON, Wis. — As cases of COVID-19 increase, the Dairy Business Association, Wisconsin’s leading dairy lobbying group, is urging the state Legislature to take up a bill that would protect businesses and others from predatory lawsuits over outbreaks of the illness. The bill would create a liability exemption for individuals as well as entities like businesses and schools if they follow public health orders and take reasonable precautions to protect the public. The exemption does not protect bad actors who knowingly violate public health orders or act recklessly, said the bill’s sponsors, state Sen. Chris Kapenga, R-Delafield, and Reps. Mark Born,

Senate Democratic Committee: COVID-19 infections skyrocket in Portage County. Senator Testin’s response? Do Nothing.

On August 30th, Portage County Wisconsin recorded its 709 positive case of COVID-19. While that amount alone is sobering, exactly one month later and the number of reported cases has skyrocketed to 1512, over a 200% increase and two further residents have died from the virus. Similar statistics are being reported across the state, yet legislative Republicans seem more concerned about suing Governor Evers over his life-saving mask mandate than they do about actually doing their jobs and helping Wisconsinites mitigate the damage this pandemic has caused.   “As the chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Human Services,
