This is State Senator André Jacque from Northeast Wisconsin.  As legislator of the year for both Wisconsin’s Professional Police and Chiefs of Police Associations, I’m proud to back the badge and stand with our law enforcement officers all over Wisconsin. With the unrest occurring in many areas of our state, my Republican colleagues and I, like you, know that now more than ever, we need to protect our protectors and support law enforcement. Our first responders are heroes that rush toward danger at a moment’s notice, and their service comes at a high cost to themselves and their families. They

Audio file of radio address.  MADISON — Gov. Tony Evers today delivered the Democratic Radio Address on the first meeting of the Blue Ribbon Commission on Rural Prosperity. Hello, Wisconsin. Governor Tony Evers here. During my 2020 State of the State Address, I said Wisconsin was ready to be a partner in the promise of posterity to our farm families and rural communities. Even before the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Wisconsin’s rural communities were facing challenges, but the pandemic has disrupted our agricultural supply chains, exposed gaps in broadband access, and threatened the health and well-being of our family and friends. We know

Drivers over age 60 whose license expired after March 12, 2020 now have until November 23, 2020 to visit a DMV to renew their license. “Further extending the deadline for this at-risk population gives them more opportunity to plan their visit to a DMV Customer Service Center,” DMV Administrator Kristina Boardman said. “We do not want people in this higher-risk demographic to feel that

U.S. Rep. Grothman: Introduces bill to help alleviate excessive student loan debt

(Washington, D.C.) – Congressmen Glenn Grothman (R-Wis.) has officially introduced the Responsible Borrowing Act. This bill will help alleviate excessive student loan debt by allowing institutions of higher education to implement guard rails on how much money students can borrow. Some people take decades to repay their loans and agonize over how much money they borrowed. Some realize that they are putting their life on hold because so much of their paycheck goes to their lender. Some cut costs, get a second job and go through the headache of restructuring their loan. The Responsible Borrowing Act will solve these problems before they start by giving students,

Rep. Hebl: Voting in the time of COVID-19

By all accounts, Wisconsin’s August 11 partisan primary appears to have come and gone without a hitch. We were able to learn from the confusion that surrounded April’s election, and it seems that across the state absentee voting went smoothly and in person voting was done safely. While of course I would prefer that the pandemic was in our rearview mirror, I am glad to know that Wisconsinites were able to safely and relatively easily exercise their right to vote despite the circumstances. However, there appears to be a plot by the Trump administration to throw a wrench in the

Great Water Alliance: Federal financing means big savings for water ratepayers, Mayor says

(WAUKESHA) A federal loan for the city’s Lake Michigan water supply project is “fantastic news” for water customers, according to Waukesha Mayor Shawn Reilly. “Ratepayers will save almost $1 million per year over the 38-year life of the loan because of the exceptional interest rate and a flexible repayment schedule,” Reilly said. The closing of the loan was announced in Waukesha this afternoon by Andrew Wheeler, administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), along with Reilly. The $137.1 million loan has a historic low interest rate of only 1.16% over the 38-year term. The project is planned for completion

Voces de la Frontera Action: Applauds victories in Wisconsin partisan primaries; looks to Biden, Harris for engagement

(MILWAUKEE, WI) – Voces de la Frontera Action applauds the wave of progressive Democrats elected in the Wisconsin partisan primaries this week. We are proud that six of our eight endorsed candidates were elected in Brown County and Milwaukee County. We firmly believe that these candidates will endorse immigrant and labor rights in Wisconsin and we see these wins as part of the progressive wave of wins seen in states across the country, most notably in Minnesota, Michigan, and New York, and in the defeat of white nationalist candidates like Kris Kobach in Kansas and Sheriff Joe Arpaio in Arizona.
