Marquette Poll shows presidential race remains tight in Wisconsin

The presidential race continued to be tight with 46 percent of voters backing presumptive Dem nominee Joe Biden and 43 percent supporting President Trump in the latest Marquette University Law School Poll. That’s largely unchanged from 48-45 in late March. Poll Director Charles Franklin said there’s also been a significant shift against the president for those voters who dislike both candidates. Four years ago, exit polls showed Trump won a substantial majority of those voters. DNC committee takes first steps toward scaling back Democratic National Convention

A key Democratic National Committee panel took the first steps toward scaling back the party’s convention in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. A DNC official told WisPolitics.com the Rules and Bylaws Committee voted this afternoon to approve a resolution that would give the Convention Committee “maximum flexibility to plan a safe event that guarantees every delegate can accomplish their official business without putting their own health at risk.” The official also said the resolution gives the convention’s organizers authority to “make the necessary changes to the format, size, date or other aspects.” That includes allowing convention delegates to participate

Biden ad accuses Trump of downplaying COVID-19 threat

Dem Joe Biden’s campaign says it’s running a new digital ad in Wisconsin accusing President Trump of downplaying the threat of COVID-19 as the disease began to spread across the country. The ad will run statewide on Facebook, Instagram and YouTube in Wisconsin. The ad is also running in Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina and Pennsylvania.
