Republican Bill to Cut Taxes for Families Now Heads to Governor’s Desk

[Madison, WI] – Moments ago, the Wisconsin State Senate, led by Republican lawmakers, passed a plan to reduce taxes for the state’s middle-class families. The GOP-backed legislation, which cuts taxes on the average taxpayer by $170 a year, will now go to Governor Tony Evers’ desk to be signed into law. In response to the passage of the plan, the Republican Party of Wisconsin issued the following statement from Chairman Brad Courtney:

“Over the last eight years, Wisconsin Republicans have fought to reform government by putting the power back in the hands of hard-working families. Our conservative reforms turned a $3.6 billion structural deficit into a $588 million surplus while providing over $8 billion in tax relief. With this plan, Republican lawmakers are once again prioritizing the interests of Wisconsin’s middle class by helping them keep more of their hard-earned money. If Governor Tony Evers truly cares about Wisconsin families, he’ll put politics aside and sign this legislation into law.”
