MADISON – Governor Tony Evers’ capital budget seeks investment in an array of important building projects that have been neglected for years by the previous Republican administration. However, as a member of the Wisconsin Building Commission, Senator Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) voted against every measure of the state building program including a project in his own district. His vote blocked funding for the Incourage Community Foundation, an innovative partnership with UW-Stevens Point that seeks to encourage sustainable economic change in central Wisconsin.

“It’s ridiculous that Sen. Pat Testin would reject economic development rather than accept Gov. Tony Evers budget proposal that invests in his own district,” said Katie Iliff, SSDC Executive Director. “It’s clear Sen. Pat Testin is more concerned with scoring political points than investing in the growth of Wisconsin communities. Families of the 24th Senate District deserve better.”

Had it been approved the renovations for the Incourage Community Foundation were estimated to have a $28.8 million economic impact and create 270 jobs.
