MADISON – Wisconsin Property Taxpayers, Inc. announced today that Sen. Patrick Testin (R-Stevens Point) will be named a Property Taxpayer Champion for his work in 2019.

“Our organization and members thank Senator Testin for his work on ushering hemp back into the Wisconsin economy and recognizing the endless potential this crop has for Wisconsin’s farmers and entrepreneurs,” John Jacobson, Government and Member Relations Director said. “In addition to his work on hemp, Senator Testin has been a strong advocate for creating a Wisconsin tax climate that best serves the state’s families and job creators.

“Our members in central and western Wisconsin could not be better represented in the State Senate, and we look forward to continuing to work together in the new year,” Jacobson added.

In 2019, Senator Testin authored SB 188, which was signed into law by Governor Tony Evers as 2019 Wisconsin Act 68. This legislation made various regulatory changes to ensure that the crop continues to grow economic opportunities for farmers and small businesses across the state.

“I’m honored to receive this award from Wisconsin Property Taxpayers, Inc., and I thank them for their advocacy on behalf of the Growing Opportunities Act,” said Senator Testin. “By working together, we’ve made hemp Wisconsin’s comeback crop, and that has led to a blossoming of opportunity for folks across the state.”
