Madison, WI – The Wisconsin Primary Health Care Association (WPHCA) appreciates Governor Evers’ strong commitment to public health. The biennial budget makes clear his priorities lie in promoting the health and well-being of all Wisconsin communities.
“From investments in oral health access, a focus on lead, healthcare outreach, and a plan to leverage federal dollars to ensure more of our residents have access to affordable health care, Governor Evers has reinforced his commitment to build healthier communities,” said Stephanie Harrison, CEO of WPHCA. “Community Health Centers stand ready to work with the Governor on these priorities,” said Harrison.
The Governor has proposed to lengthen post-partum Medicaid coverage for women who recently gave birth, recognizing the critical link between a mother’s health and that of her baby. Unprecedented resources are directed at addressing oral health disparities which will allow more people to manage early warning signs of heart disease, and to live without mouth pain. Reimbursement for services delivered via telehealth allows providers like Community Health Centers to maximize their resources and serve more people.
“These are long term investments in the health of our communities, and we believe they will help Wisconsinites to thrive.” said Harrison. “We look forward to working with the legislature to demonstrate how directing resources to local communities will pay off well into the future.”
