The program awards federal funds from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s Office for Coastal Management and U.S. Department of Commerce to local, state, and tribal governments, universities and non-profit organizations, for innovative coastal initiatives. The Coastal Management Grant Program supports projects focusing on wetland protection, habitat restoration, nonpoint pollution control, land use planning, Great Lakes education, public access, historic preservation, and land acquisition.

Following the Council meeting, Wisconsin Department of Administration Secretary Joel Brennan will be making a presentation commemorating WCMP grant awards to eight Chequamegon Bay area projects.
