Wisconsin Academy panel to discuss changes to educational climate
MADISON — On Wednesday, May 29, at Madison’s Overture Center for the Arts, the Wisconsin Academy of Sciences, Arts & Letters will bring together a panel of experts from around the state to explore how Wisconsin can shift our educational climate to one that fosters both accessible success and healthy learning.

The discussion, titled The Cost of Success: Challenges in Seeking a Higher Education, will focus on the challenges today’s aspiring students face in accessing college, and the financial and mental health costs many students face once they are on campus. The panel will feature:
Dr. John Achter, Associate Dean of Students at UW–Stout
Dr. Catherine Kodat, Provost and Dean of Faculty at Lawrence University
Keegan Kyle, investigative journalist for the Appleton Post-Crescent
Sarah Weiss, Academic Coordinator of Upward Bound at Beloit College
Nikita Werner, UW–Milwaukee graduate student
Advance registration is required: $10 for the general public, and free for Wisconsin Academy members and students with a valid photo ID. This discussion will take place from 7:00–8:30 pm in the Wisconsin Studio (3rd floor) in Overture Center. A 6:00 pm reception in the Academy’s James Watrous Gallery, across the hall from the Wisconsin Studio, precedes the event.
