Arcadia
 – Today, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind announced that the city of Arcadia received a $4.3 million grant from the Commerce Department’s Economic Development Administration (EDA). The grant will be used to improve storm water management infrastructure and prevent flooding to commercial areas.

“Wisconsinites are strong, but the damage done by repetitive flooding takes a toll on local businesses and Wisconsin families. This grant from the Department of Commerce will give Arcadia’s storm water management system the updates it needs to protect the city from flood damage, and give economic security to workers and businesses along the Trempealeau River,” said Rep. Ron Kind.

Arcadia area businesses and homes often face flooding when the Trempealeau River overflows. This project will include upgrades to stormwater lift stations in the city, which can fail under stress caused by flooding and oversaturation.

Spring snow melt and rising rivers have caused potentially damaging spring flooding across western and central Wisconsin. Rep. Kind’s office is open and ready to help Wisconsinites impacted by flooding.

Residents facing spring flood damage to their homes, businesses or farms can call Rep. Kind’s office to be connected to the appropriate assistance.  His office can be reached toll-free by calling 1-888-442-8040, or by visiting kind.house.gov.
