MADISON– The Office of the State Treasurer is proud to announce the selection of Treasurer Sarah Godlewski for The Aspen Institute- Rodel Fellowship in Public Leadership.

The Rodel Fellowship is a program designed to bring together America’s brightest leaders and elected officials to study and discuss issues impacting our democracy. Fellows are selected after an intensive year-long search based on their record of reaching across the aisle to work for common sense solutions. More than 500 nominations are made every year and only 24 fellows are selected. Through bipartisanship discussion, Rodel Fellows collaborate on ideas to improve public leadership and develop relationships between communities and elected officials.

“I am honored to have been chosen to join such an important team of leaders from across the country. I’ve always said that the issues of public finance are not red or blue, they’re green. It’s important to reach across the aisle – it’s our greatest opportunity to make positive change in Wisconsin.” She continued, “The Rodel Fellowship works to elevate issues that should transcend the political divide, and I am looking forward to participating in those critical conversations over the next two years.”

This 24 month program will include meetings with all Rodel Fellows were they will work together on issues such as health care, public education, and the environment in nonpartisan ways to create the best possible solutions. Previous fellows have included former Wisconsin Attorney General JB Van Hollen, former Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords, former Maryland Lieutenant Governor Michael Steele, and former Missouri Secretary of State Jason Kander.
