Three Dems are headed for an April 2 primary after filing nomination papers by the deadline to run for the open 64th AD.

Tip McGuire, a Milwaukee County assistant DA; Gina Walkington, a community organizer; and Spencer Zimmerman, a perennial candidate who lives outside the Kenosha-area district, all filed nomination papers by Tuesday’s deadline.

Meanwhile, Republican Mark Stalker, who said he spent 30 years working for paint companies in various sales positions, is the only other candidate to file nomination papers.

Stalker will meet the winner of the Dem primary April 30 to replace Dem Peter Barca, who resigned the seat to join the Evers administration as Revenue secretary.

U.S. Sen. Tammy Baldwin, D-Madison, won 61.4 percent of the vote in the district last fall as she won re-election, while Gov. Tony Evers took 55.9 percent.
