Madison, WI – Senator Howard Marklein (R-Spring Green) offered the following statement regarding the Legislative Fiscal Bureau’s (LFB’s) revised revenue projections:

“The recent Legislative Fiscal Bureau projections indicate that the State of Wisconsin is going to finish the current year with an additional $69 million more than what we had projected back in November. The State expects to end this year with $616 million.

When you add in the projected additional tax collections for 2019 through 2021, we are going to have $2.4 billion more that’s available for us as we consider the next budget. This is new money that is above and beyond what is in the base budget.

This is good news as we look toward the next budget and it reflects good policy decisions over the last several years.”

Marklein represents the 17th Senate District, which includes all or parts Grant, Green, Iowa, Juneau, Lafayette, Monroe, Richland, Sauk and Vernon counties. Marklein serves on the legislature’s budget-writing Joint Finance Committee and is Chair of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Revenue & Financial Institutions.
