CONTACT: STATE REPRESENTATIVE CHUCK WICHGERS (608) 266-3363

Madison – State Representative Chuck Wichgers (R-Muskego) issued the following statement following Governor Tony Evers’ State of the State address:

“Governor Evers made a request for legislation to arrive on his desk ‘with broad support and in the spirit of bipartisanship.’ With that in mind, the State Assembly passed their first piece of legislation this year with broad bipartisan support on Assembly Bill 1, the Pre-Existing Condition Guaranteed Coverage Act.

The bill passed with over three fourths of the members voting aye, Republicans and Democrats alike. I look forward to Governor Evers keeping his word and signing this bill into law when it arrives on his desk.

“The past eight years of leadership under a Republican legislature and a Republican Governor have brought our state record unemployment at or below three percent for eleven straight months. In addition, Wisconsinites have the lowest tax burden in nearly fifty years. Governor Evers would be wise to take heed to the policies that brought us here.

“I was disappointed to see Governor Evers end his speech without the words ‘may God bless you, and may God bless the great State of Wisconsin.’ It is my hope that we never forget the bedrock of our society and its foundations in God and family to continue to move our state Forward!”
