Madison–State Representative John Nygren (R-Marinette), Co-chair of the Joint Committee on Finance released the following statement:

“Today, the 63 member Republican majority in the State Assembly extended their hands to Governor Evers in a show of bipartisanship. From income tax reductions to clean water, we believe there is plenty to collaborate on together to improve the lives of the Wisconsin taxpayer. Unlike the gridlock in Washington D.C., Wisconsin prides itself on getting work done in a timely fashion, a value I hope we are able to maintain together.”

The State Assembly has been historically bipartisan on a wide variety of topics. In the last legislative session, 90% of bills passed out of the chamber received bipartisan support.

“I would like to personally extend my offer of bipartisanship to the new Governor. As the author of 30 bills aimed at combating substance abuse and addiction, I understand the value of working across the aisle. All 30 passed after receiving bipartisan votes. I sincerely look forward to working with Governor Evers on the many important issues facing our great state. Together we can continue to move Wisconsin forward.”
