MADISON – According to a new memo from the nonpartisan Legislative Fiscal Bureau, Wisconsin Republicans have now cut taxes by more than $13 billion since 2011. The memo analyzed tax law changes since 2011 when Republicans, including local Representative Jim Steineke (R-Kaukauna), gained control of the Legislature and began prioritizing tax relief.
“Since coming into office, a priority of mine has been to ensure that hard-working Wisconsinites get to keep more of their money in their pockets,” said Rep. Steineke. “Over a ten year span, our conservative reforms have saved Wisconsin families $2,000.”
Specifically, the analysis looks at statutory changes that directly reduce the tax liability of Wisconsin residents since 2011, when Wisconsin was in the top ten worst taxed states in the country. With Republican leadership, Wisconsin’s tax burden has dropped to its lowest level in almost 50 years.
“By advancing our conservative reforms, we have seen our communities thrive and our economy boom, all while cutting taxes during each and every session since 2011,” continued Rep. Steineke. “As long as we hold a Republican majority in the Assembly, we will continue to prioritize tax relief for Wisconsin families.”
