MADISON- Following Governor Evers’s State of the State address this evening, State Representative Mark Spreitzer (D-Beloit) released the following statement:

“Governor Evers’s State of the State address laid out a clear agenda to move Wisconsin forward. It was refreshing to hear so many ideas in the Governor’s speech that echo the concerns I heard frequently on the campaign trail last year. It is clear that the Governor wants to get things done. Under his leadership, we will fully fund our public schools, fix our crumbling roads, reform our criminal justice system, and make sure everyone in Wisconsin has access to affordable health care.

“We cannot solve these problems alone—the challenges we face can only be fixed by finding solutions together. Now is the time for state legislators to follow Governor Evers’s example by putting people before personal ambitions and working together on solving problems. My Democratic colleagues and I are ready to work together with Governor Evers and our colleagues on the other side of the aisle to put the people of Wisconsin first.

“I’m pleased that Governor Evers has already gotten to work making Wisconsin a better place for everyone. He has appointed the most diverse cabinet in the history of our state, signed two executive orders that will improve our healthcare system, and took action to prohibit discrimination against LGBTQ employees who serve the people of our state. I look forward to Governor Evers’s continued efforts to serve the people of Wisconsin.”
