MADISON- State Representative Timothy Ramthun (R-Campbellsport) issued the following statement in response to Governor Evers vetoing the middle class tax cut:

“I am very disappointed to hear that Governor Evers vetoed the middle class tax cut today. I thought this would be a chance for him to keep one of his campaign promises and to show bipartisan cooperation by working with the Legislature,” Rep. Ramthun stated. “The sliding scale standard deduction adjustment ensured a permanent tax cut on the middle class without raising taxes on another sector. It was a cost-effective solution and delivered on a campaign promise he made.

“The taxpayers could’ve won, Governor Evers would’ve kept one of his campaign promises, and this could’ve been a strong display of bipartisanship in the state government,” the Representative added. “I do, however, remain optimistic that we will have another chance to enact the will of the people together in the future.”
