MADISON- Today, the Wisconsin State Assembly was in session with a busy calendar that included a resolution honoring Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Shirley Abrahamson, bills from the ‘Hand for the Homeless’ package, a bill reforming the step therapy process and many others.
“I was proud to begin the session by bringing forth a resolution honoring the service of Justice Shirley Abrahamson, who has served the State of Wisconsin on the Supreme Court for 43 years.” Stated Rep. Mary Felzkowski (R-Irma). Justice Shirley Abrahamson was appointed to the Wisconsin State Supreme Court in 1976 and was the first woman to serve as Chief Justice.
Additionally, Rep. Felzkowski voted in favor of a bill to reform step therapy. “Step therapy is a situation where health insurance plans mandates that patients try less expensive, and possibly less efficient medications, first. Now, we’ve voted to make the process simpler and fairer for patients in Wisconsin, getting people the treatment they need without red tape in the way.”
The Assembly also voted overwhelmingly to pass the ‘Hand for the Homeless’ legislative package which seeks to provide relief and resources to Wisconsin’s homeless population. “This package does some wonderful things for those in our society who are struggling with homelessness, among them veterans and students, who would benefit greatly from a stable, safe permanent home.”
