Madison – After holding 12 listening sessions at various times and places around the 38th Assembly District, and receiving thousands of responses to constituent surveys, Representative Barbara Dittrich (Oconomowoc –R) voted for the proposed Wisconsin Budget. The balanced, Wisconsin budget is a conservative spending plan that makes the largest total investment K-12 education in real dollars, funds healthcare providers without expanding welfare, and eliminates the governor’s plan to increase government spending by $6 billion.
“Throughout my listening sessions I mentioned that no one gets everything they want in a state budget. Not even Gov. Walker received everything he wanted in a budget. Even though this budget spends more than I would like without requiring improved performance, I will vote ‘yes’ because overall, it represents the compromise my constituents are asking of me,” shared Rep. Dittrich.
The Wisconsin Budget will help provide access to high-quality healthcare by investing more than $150 million in caregiver wages and $74 million in our nursing homes. Education is the largest funded program in the general fund with the Wisconsin Budget spending $12 billion total investment in K-12. This includes a 13% increase for special education and adds $600+ per student by end of the biennium. School districts in the 38th Assembly District will receive a record $11.9 million in additional revenue.

This budget not only provides for our kids and health care needs, but it holds the line on Governor Evers’ spending proposals, keeping spending limits within previous biennium budget levels.
