Madison – Today, State Representative Barbara Dittrich (R-Oconomowoc) is pleased to share the news that all 8 bills introduced by the Speaker’s Task Force on Adoption were passed by the Assembly Committee on Family Law on Tuesday, December 17th.

“I am exceptionally delighted to see these bills move through the committee process. These bills are the result of many long hours listening to families, judges, corporation counsels, adoption organizations, and agencies during the many hearings held around the state this summer. I am incredibly grateful to Speaker Vos for naming me chair of this task force, as well as for the bipartisan efforts during the task force process. Furthermore, I was encouraged to see most of these bills passed with bipartisan, if not unanimous support,” shared Rep. Dittrich.

The package of bills speaks directly to the goals of the task force in reducing the timeline for adoption, examining the process to terminate parental rights, increasing awareness for adoption, and evaluating/reducing costs.

The bills are now available to the scheduled for a vote in the next Assembly floor period.
