Rep. Considine Statement on Governor’s Budget

Madison –Tonight, Governor Tony Evers delivered his 2019-2021 biennial budget address in the Assembly Chambers. Representative Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) issued the following statement on the Governor’s budget:

“Tonight I heard Governor Evers’ budget initiatives to invest in things that matter to the people of Wisconsin,” stated Rep. Considine. “Governor Evers was elected to solve the problems facing our state. This budget will fix problems. Governor Evers declared 2019 ‘The Year of Clean Drinking Water’ in his State of the State Address, and he is keeping his word by including bonding to replace lead pipes and combat water pollution. Governor Evers has committed to increasing the accessibility of healthcare for all Wisconsinites, and he is keeping his promise by accepting federal funding to expand Medicaid. Governor Evers has pledged to put children first, and he is following through by prioritizing students through a historic investment in education.

“Governor Evers is providing the legislature a very real opportunity to move forward in a bipartisan effort to make sure Wisconsin works for everyone. This budget is the people’s budget, because it was built on input directly from Wisconsinites throughout the state. I look forward to working with my colleagues in the coming months on clean water, accessible healthcare, education, and so much more. These issues aren’t partisan, and I am ready to work together to ensure Wisconsin is a better place for all.
