Madison – Today the Assembly voted on and passed the first bill of the 2019-2020 legislative session. Republicans proposed Assembly Bill (AB) 1 which claimed to adequately address healthcare following repeated calls for action on this issue. Rep. Dave Considine (D-Baraboo) issued the following statement regarding AB 1:

“I voted against AB 1 because this is no solution to our state’s needs. The people of Wisconsin deserve comprehensive healthcare coverage, and I was elected to advocate for that. Deceptive bills like AB 1 are not the solutions that our constituents elected us to find.”

“If the Affordable Care Act is overturned this bill will be revealed as the hoax that it is. AB 1 provides no support or financing for its mandates and promises. It is my hope that we can find real solutions to the problems our constituents deal with this session. I promise to continue to support good legislation that provides true coverage for my constituents.”
