Women’s March Wisconsin is proud to endorse Mandela Barnes for Lieutenant Governor of Wisconsin. A community activist and former State Representative who grew up in the poorest and most incarcerated zip code in the state, Mandela has pledged to fight mass incarceration and invest instead in education, early intervention, and true rehabilitation.
Mandela considers the role of Lieutenant Governor the “people’s lobbyist,” and has committed to holding regular town halls and listening sessions across the state to better understand what is necessary in the state’s budgeting process.
We believe Mandela will be a champion for education, for universal and affordable healthcare, for fair wages, and for economic growth – not just for large corporations – but for every citizen of Wisconsin. The Democratic candidate for Governor of Wisconsin will possess an immense advantage with Mandela Barnes on the ticket this November, and we are thrilled to urge the people of Wisconsin to vote for him on August 14th.
