Streamlined process gives 24/7 access, greater convenience to replace lost sticker

Every year, Wisconsin DMV receives more than 29,000 calls and another 18,000 email requests to replace a lost license plate sticker. Now, with a new online process, DMV customers may request a free replacement vehicle-registration sticker online at wisconsindmv.gov/sticker and it will be mailed the next business day.

“Wisconsin DMV is continuing to enhance its online services to give customers greater convenience, control and access to their DMV account,” explained Rhonda Alley, Wisconsin Department of Transportation Division of Motor Vehicles manager. “Enabling customers to easily fulfill routine requests for replacement stickers online will free DMV Customer Service staff to answer calls and will save all of our customers time.”

DMV online prompts will walk the customer through a series of steps to verify identity and eligibility and ensure the proper item specific to their registration will be sent. Customers who forgot to register will be promoted to renew and directed with helpful links to register. This enhancement also provides Wisconsin DMV additional tracking measures for replacement stickers to help reduce waste and fraud.

To order a duplicate or replacement sticker, visit wisconsindmv.gov/sticker and have your vehicle identification number ready.

This enhancement continues DMV’s expansion of online services. eNotify, the electronic (email or text) renewal reminders, is one of the most popular services, see wisconsindmv.gov/eNotify.

“With so many online services, most Wisconsinites only need to visit a DMV once every eight years to renew their driver license,” Alley said.
