We already knew Scott Walker has failed to fix Wisconsin’s roads problem, but today we found out he tried to pass the buck across the pond.

The Journal Sentinel reported that Walker’s Transportation Secretary met with a mysterious London billionaire to talk about selling off Wisconsin’s highways:

Gov. Scott Walker’s transportation secretary told business officials and others last week he had talked to a London financier about selling off Wisconsin’s highways but had rejected the idea.

Transportation Secretary Dave Ross told a group last week that Walker’s administration was adopting new ways of getting its work done and mentioned in passing his discussion about selling off roads, according to people familiar with the meeting.

It’s just the latest evidence that Walker has no serious plans to fix Wisconsin’s roads. Just this week, a new report showed that more than half of the state’s roads are in poor or mediocre condition. That came after Walker was criticizedby his former Transportation Secretary Mark Gottlieb for floating plans to invest billions into outdated designs and technology.

“The idea that Scott Walker would consider selling off Wisconsin roads to the highest bidder is absurd and highlights what a failure he has been on Wisconsin’s infrastructure,” said DPW spokesperson Alex Japko. “These type of backward ideas are exactly why his own cabinet members are speaking out about his failed leadership. A real leader would fix Wisconsin’s transportation issues, not pawn them off to foreign billionaires.”
