Grothman criticizes Mueller investigation just weeks after 12 Russian agents indicted
MADISON — Despite widespread bipartisan condemnation over President Trump’s siding Vladimir Putin over the U.S. intelligence community at last week’s U.S-Russia Summit, Rep. Glenn Grothman says he’s “not concerned.”

During the interview on UpFront aired Sunday, Grothman made repeated excuses for Trump’s behavior, which Sen. John McCain characterized as “one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.” Grothman dismissed Trump’s denial of Russian meddling, suggesting instead that people “look at what President Trump does, not what he says.”

Grothman even went so far as to suggest the special counsel investigation into Trump end, claiming “we haven’t really found anything,” despite the fact that just weeks ago 12 Russian agents were indicted for conspiring to interfere in our elections as part of the probe.

Here’s what else Grothman had to say:

“The fact that he met with Putin is a good thing.”

“I’m glad he’s there [in Russia].”

“If you look at his overall policy towards Russia, I think it’s positive.”

“Glenn Grothman is carrying water for a president who’d rather mock our law enforcement and intelligence communities than protect our democracy from future attacks,” said Courtney Beyer, Democratic Party of Wisconsin spokesperson. “It’s time for Republicans to hold Trump accountable and put country over party. Will Glenn Grothman answer the call, or will he continue to make excuses for a man who jeopardizes our national security?”
