Madison, Wis. – The Wisconsin Historical Society is pleased to announce the election of Mary Buestrin, Mary Jane Herber, Leonard Sobczak and Terri Yoho to their Board of Curators (BOC), the governing board of the Society.

“All four of our new board members bring an abundance of expertise and energy to the table,” said Christian Overland, Ruth and Hartley Barker Director, Wisconsin Historical Society. “We are very lucky to have them by our side as we continue to strengthen the Society and preserve the collections for the future of Wisconsin and beyond.”

Mary Buestrin from Mequon is a former BOC member (served from 1998-2011); elected to the Republican National Committee as National Committeewoman for Wisconsin in 1992 and recently served as the Co-Chairman of the 2012 Republican National Convention; served on the board of the Mequon Community Foundation, former chair of The Lutheran Home, co-chair for History Makers fundraiser events.

Mary Jane Herber from De Pere is a local history and genealogy librarian at the Brown County Library in Green Bay.  She has done local history series and genealogy classes at the library and received the Governor’s Award for Archival Advocacy in 2016 from the BOC.

Leonard Sobczak from Milwaukee is President-Principal of Eastmore Real Estate Management, a commercial real estate firm; active in many state and local conservation organizations; serves on the Board of Wisconsin League of Conservation Voters; and founded the Wisconsin Gazette.

Terri Yoho from Adell is the recently retired executive director of Kohler Foundation, Inc., Administrator of Kohler Trust for Arts and Education and Kohler Trust for Preservation.  She is a consultant for Kohler Foundation, serves on the board of directors for the Friends of Wade House, Friends of Fred Smith at Wisconsin Concrete Park, and Random Lake Educational Foundation.
