MADISON, Wis. – Attorney General Brad Schimel announced today that Kevin M. Robinson, 27, Milwaukee, Wis., was sentenced to 63 years in prison and 25 years extended supervision for human trafficking. On December 29, 2017, a jury in Milwaukee County found Robinson guilty on all counts of human trafficking.

“Buying sex is not a victimless crime, as evidenced by the numerous women trapped in Kevin Robinson’s human trafficking ring,” said Attorney General Schimel. “Wisconsin’s law enforcement communities, on all levels, federal, state, and local, share a common mission and are united in disrupting human trafficking, helping survivors, and prosecuting perpetrators.”

In December 2015, Kevin Robinson was arrested by the Oak Creek Police Department in the parking lot of a local motel. Inside of the room Robinson paid for, the Oak Creek Police Department found an adult male and female, and a juvenile female. The adult male admitted that he had planned to have sex with both the adult and juvenile women in the room, and further admitted that Robinson had made the women available through an advertisement on Backpage.

The Oak Creek Police Department and Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation, in concert with the Milwaukee Police Department and other members of the Milwaukee County Human Trafficking Task Force subsequently launched an investigation into Robinson’s activities. Two additional female victims were recovered during the investigation and interviewed about Robinson’s human trafficking business. Subsequently, search warrants were served on Robinson’s Facebook and Gmail accounts, which assisted in locating evidence of his trafficking activities and corroborated the victims’ statements.

Investigators discovered that Robinson also had kidnapped a 17-year-old girl, physically assaulted her, pointed a shotgun at her, and threatened to tie her up in a vehicle and then burn her to death inside of the car by lighting it on fire.

The Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office Victim Witness Service Coordinator provided crime victim assistance and support. Milwaukee County Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Williams prosecuted the case in Milwaukee County Circuit Court.
