MADISON, Wis. – Today, Attorney General Brad Schimel announced applications for the Director of the Wisconsin Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of School Safety are due no later than 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, April 8, 2018.
The Director of the Office of School Safety will manage a team at DOJ and administer the $100 million School Safety grant program provided for by the Wisconsin Legislature for school safety improvements. In addition to overseeing the grant program, the director will consult with the Department of Public Instruction, local schools and their partner law enforcement agencies on developing and implementing school safety plans, creating best practices in school safety, and implementing training programs.
Applicants should have considerable experience in law enforcement or private security, preferably with management experience. Candidates who have management experience and a background in training or educating law enforcement will be given preference, as will those with experience in tactical response and response to school violence.
