GREEN BAY– Senator Robert Cowles (R-Green Bay) offered the weekly Republican radio address today. Below is a written transcript of the address:
Hello, this is state Senator Robert Cowles. I continuously hear from businesses that are having a difficult time finding people to fill their open jobs. This is currently complicated by a historically low unemployment rate. The Wisconsin Legislature has made important steps over the past several years to promote economic and workforce development. Recently, we passed legislation to assist veterans and people with disabilities with employment opportunities, emphasizing the commitment that Wisconsin has made to provide worker training and connect workers with jobs.

Currently, our state’s workforce development system utilizes a broad range of employment and training services, from job search and employment assistance to very technical and intensive vocational training. While there is still more to do, we have a robust system in place to assist job seekers and improve their economic situation.

If you or someone you know is looking to gain or change employment, you can utilize local job centers around the state or visit JobCenterofWisconsin.com, free of cost. Job seekers and employers alike can use this state-of-the-art job opening database. Right now there are over 90,000 jobs open in Wisconsin looking for applicants.
Thank you for listening.
