(WAUKESHA, WI) – Waukesha County has received the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting; the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) has presented the county with the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award for its 2018 budget.

“Waukesha County’s budget team is among the best in the nation,” said Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow. ”Not only do our professionals uphold our low-tax legacy year after year, the annual budget document they craft reflects best practices set by national guidelines that result in a budget that provides a roadmap to fiscal responsibility.  It is a document that county leaders and residents understand and can reference well into the future.”

Waukesha County is among the top recipients of the GFOA Distinguished Budget Award, having received it 31 times. In order to receive the award, the county must satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. These guidelines assess how well a budget serves as: a policy document; a financial plan; an operations guide; and a communication device. Budget documents are rated by the GFOA as “proficient” in all four categories, and in fourteen mandatory criteria within those categories.
