VIDEO: Scott Walker Unveils Tax Credit for Seniors, Offering Stark Contrast to Tony Evers’ Plans to Raise Taxes
Announcement at home of woman who would benefit from tax credit, statewide TV ad accompany unveiling of latest part of agenda to keep Wisconsin working for generations to come

[Madison, Wis.] – Scott Walker today unveiled the fourth policy proposal of his agenda to keep Wisconsin working for generations to come, joining Carol Kimpel of West Allis at her home to describe his plan to expand the Homestead Tax Credit to provide even further property tax relief for Wisconsin’s senior citizens with fixed or modest incomes. As part of the governor’s policy rollout, the Walker campaign launched its next statewide TV ad and provided a policy paper detailing the proposal that the governor will be discussing across the state over the final weeks of the campaign.

Scott Walker knows that many senior citizens live on fixed incomes, and his leadership on the issue of tax relief is in stark contrast to the failed leadership of Tony Evers, who is making empty promises and has plans to increase property taxes, income taxes, and gas taxes. In the past, too many of our seniors faced a financial crunch with high property taxes, prescription drug costs and health care costs. That’s part of the reason why he has fought to make sure property taxes are lower now than they were in 2010, and why he’s unveiled this latest proposal for additional tax relief to help senior citizens stay in their homes.

You can watch the ad on the governor’s policy proposal, entitled “Stay in Their Homes” here. You can find more details on the plan in the Policy Paper here. The ad begins:

Scott Walker: They’ve lived in this house for 47 years.

He was a broadcast engineer, she worked for the Red Cross.

Sue: Our three kids, they live close-by.

Ed: And our four grandkids too.

Sue: We’d love to stay in our house.

Ed: But it’s not always easy on a fixed income.

Scott Walker: Thanks to our reforms, property taxes are lower than they were 8 years ago.

And there’s more we can do to help…

Our plan creates a tax credit that’ll help seniors stay in their homes.

The spot will run on television as well as on a range of online and social media platforms. It is the latest in a series of ads the Walker campaign is running on the governor’s strong record of getting positive things done and his plans for more bold reform to keep Wisconsin working for generations to come.
