| Brookfield, Wis. — As Sen. Tammy Baldwin refused to meet with Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh before his hearing, U.S. Senate candidate Leah Vukmir pledged earlier Tuesday to meet with every Supreme Court nominee, no matter who nominates them.
Baldwin’s decision not to meet with Kavanaugh before deciding how she’d vote means she didn’t even try to advocate for issues she tells Wisconsinites she cares deeply about, including abortion, civil rights, executive privilege, Obamacare, and gun control.
Faced with the reality of not doing her job, Baldwin caved and is now telling the press that she will try to schedule a meeting with President Trump’s highly qualified nominee. This comes after Baldwin already made up her mind and said she’ll vote no only 48 hours after he was announced as the nominee.
“Within 48 hours of his nomination, Tammy Baldwin opposed Judge Kavanaugh’s nomination and refused to perform a basic function of her job — to meet with him and advocate for Wisconsin families,” Leah Vukmir said. “Baldwin’s decision to cave and meet with Judge Kavanaugh after the Judiciary hearings proves that she knows there are consequences for not doing her job in Washington.” |
