MADISON, WISCONSIN – On Thursday, Voces de la Frontera members from throughout Wisconsin will hold a lobby day to visit legislators and Governor Walker to urge them to reject the anti-sanctuary hate bill AB190/SB275, and to instead return driver licenses to Wisconsin immigrant families. Families will deliver Valentines cards to the lawmakers made by children of immigrants.

Leaders will hold a press conference at 10am in the Assembly Parlor (2nd floor, West Wing) featuring immigrant families, legislators, religious leaders, and community supporters. Following the press conference delegations will visit the offices of leaders in the legislature and Governor Walker.

AB190/SB275 is a hate bill that would allow local employees to investigate immigration status and mandate authorities turn immigrants over to ICE. The bill would separate Wisconsin families, increase discrimination and racial profiling, harm our economy, and make everyone less safe. Returning driver licenses to Wisconsin immigrant community members would ensure that all Wisconsinites have the right to do things like drive to work, pick up kids, and move safely without fear. Licenses would make Wisconsin roads safer, improve the economy, and stop immigrant families from being targeted by deportation agents because of a lack of a driver license.
