La Crosse – Yesterday afternoon, the Trump Administration laid out their plan to offer billions of taxpayer dollars in aid to farmers impacted by retaliation from the President’s imposition of tariffs on America’s historical trading partners. The rollout of the program will cost an initial $6 billion, with another $6 billion in payments expected by December.
U.S. Rep. Ron Kind released the following statement:

“Wisconsin family farmers work hard every day to feed America and the entire world. With today’s low commodity prices, farmers are looking to sell into new global markets. They’re looking for trade – not aid.

Today’s announcement of providing taxpayer aid in response to harmful tariffs is a drop-in-the-bucket compared to the losses that Wisconsin farmers have seen since the tariffs were imposed. Crops and goods Wisconsin is proud of, like corn and dairy, are suffering because of this reckless trade war, and are shortchanged by today’s announcement. Wisconsin farmers want to sell their pork, not receive pork from Washington.”
