Kind is ranked 21st most independent Member out of 438 U.S. House Members

La Crosse – Today, the nonpartisan Lugar Center released their annual rankings of the most independent members of the House and Senate. The Lugar Center found that in the 115th Congress, U.S. Rep. Ron Kind ranked 21st in bipartisanship out of all 438 Members of the House and 1st in the Wisconsin congressional delegation.

“When I’m holding Listening Sessions in Wisconsin or talking to folks at the YMCA and the grocery store, I often hear about the frustrations people have with how divided Congress is. Now more than ever, people want an independent voice that doesn’t approach issues with an “us and them” mindset,” said Rep. Ron Kind. “I am proud that the Lugar Center ranked me the 21st most bipartisan member of the House – and the first in the Wisconsin delegation – and look forward to continuing to work with anyone that has a good idea about how to help everyday Wisconsinites live a better life.”

The Lugar Bipartisan Index measures the frequency with which a Member co-sponsors a bill introduced by the opposite party and the frequency with which a Member’s own bills attract co-sponsors from the opposite party.
