Elected Official, MPS Parent, and Educational Assistant Will Put the
Students First
MILWAUKEE: Milwaukee County Supervisor Sequanna Taylor announced her candidacy today to run for the vacant District 3 seat on the MPS Board of School Directors.
Taylor was elected in 2016 to the Milwaukee County Board. She is a mother of MPS students and a proud MPS graduate herself. She is an educational assistant and previously served as President of the Milwaukee Education Assistant Association. Supervisor Taylor has sponsored over thirty pieces of county legislation aimed at improving the lives of Milwaukee’s working families.
Taylor serves on the National Educator’s Association as a Board director and on the leadership team of the Wisconsin Education Association Council. Her elected leadership combined with her classroom experience and community service empower Sequanna to put all Milwaukee students first.
State Senator LaTonya Johnson said this about Sequanna Taylor’s candidacy for Milwaukee School Board, “Sequanna Taylor works hard on a daily basis to ensure our children and their families have access to quality schools and services.”
Supervisor Sequanna Taylor made this statement about her candidacy for District 3, Milwaukee Public School Board: “The classroom is the most important place in our district which makes our students the most important people in the district I serve. I am a mother, public educator, and community leader who will fight for every child in Milwaukee to have the resources they deserve to thrive.”
Sequanna Taylor has already lined up a diverse group of endorsements from the following elected officials: Milwaukee Public School Board President Mark Sain, State Senator LaTonya Johnson, Alderman Chevy Johnson, Alderwoman Chantia Lewis, State Representative Jonathan Brostoff, and State Representative David Crowley.
Milwaukee Alderman Chevy Johnson says that, “Sequanna has been a tireless advocate for improving the lives of Milwaukee’s residents-particularly the youngest among us. As an advocate for kids on the Milwaukee County Board and at Milwaukee Public Schools, I’m confident that Sequanna will be a valuable addition to the School Board.”
