Jeff Smith, former representative of the 93rd Assembly District from 2007 to 2011, has registered as a candidate for the state Senate seat currently held by Sen. Kathleen Vinehout. Since the Senator is running for Governor, the 31st Senate District will be in need of a strong and experienced leader who can step right in.
“On Wednesday this week I was reminded of why this is so important as I witnessed high school students making their statement to us, through their actions in a walk out, that something must change,” said Jeff Smith. “After all, if we don’t stand with our children then we don’t stand for anything. Elected representatives in our legislature need to set aside their own biases, get away from serving the moneyed interests and get back to serving the greater good of our community. Ensuring access to healthcare, fully funding our public schools, restoring the voice of communities and protecting our children’s future need to come before corporate interests and greed.”
