(MADISON) – On account of the record rainfall that occurred last night across Southern Wisconsin Senator Lena Taylor (D-Milwaukee) released the following statement regarding the 4th District’s National Night Out 2018:

“I’m deeply saddened to announce that due to the heavy rainfall across the state we won’t be hosting our National Night Out event this year.”

“We have had a number of vendors who’ve experienced problems due to the flooding, while several of our major kids focused events were canceled yesterday on account of the inclement weather. On behalf of my office and the communities we work with, I’m tremendously grateful to everyone for their willingness to be a part of this event.”

“The purpose of National Night Out is to strengthen our community-police relations and that’s a goal we’re committed to year round. I hope you’re all able to attend next year’s event, on Tuesday, August 6, 2019 and make sure to stay dry and out of harm’s way.”
