[Madison, WI] – Majority Leader Scott Fitzgerald released a statement following the outcome of today’s extraordinary session:

“Today’s extraordinary session codifies into law reforms that have been eight years in the making. Law written by the legislature and passed by a governor should not be erased based on the political maneuvering of an incoming administration.

“We must make sure that Wisconsin’s business environment continues to thrive. That’s why our reforms to protect the WEDC are critical – we will continue to help Wisconsin businesses grow and prosper without the looming threat of the agency being shut down.

“State legislators are the closest to those we represent. We spend countless hours each year holding town hall meetings, communicating with local elected officials, and hearing concerns from our constituents. Citizens from every corner of Wisconsin deserve a strong legislative branch that stands on equal footing with an incoming administration that is based almost solely in Madison.”
